Digitization: Its Importance and Key Areas
06 August 2021
At the end of the twentieth century, the concept of digital economy and digitalization emerged, and ideas for the introduction of the digital system in all spheres of life began to be developed around the world. Over the past quarter-century, new types of innovative technologies have emerged and have become widespread in our lives.
Today, smartphones, televisions, refrigerators, and other household appliances, including those controlled entirely through digital systems, are becoming commonplace. Dozens of “smart cities” have already been created around the world. According to international organizations, more than 26 billion smart devices are currently used worldwide. However, most of us have limited understanding of the digital system. In this article, let's try to figure out how to implement a digital system, that is, digitalization and its directions, its importance in our lives!
Digitalization and its importance
Digitalization is a concept of economic activity based on digital technologies that are integrated into different environments of life and production. This concept, along with all the countries of the world, has been successfully implemented in our country for several years now. Digitalization is changing the political, economic and socio-cultural processes and contributing to a better quality of life. Today, the increase in access to information, the increase in the variety and distribution of self-operating smart appliances, the introduction of machine control into production processes, the creation of robots that replace human beings in harmful activities are indicators of the rapid pace of the digital system.
Nowadays, things like shopping online, using services, searching for information and doing business long-distance business conversations are becoming an integral part of life. Digitalization is helping to improve the work of institutions and organizations by improving the accessibility of those needs, and making people’s lives easier.
Today, the digital system is actively integrated into economic life, manufacturing, public administration, business, and a number of other areas. The digitalization of the economy can be illustrated not only by complex and expensive systems such as the “smart home” but also by traditional household appliances operated via Wi-Fi networks. Digital home remedies are also another example of digitalization.
Advantages of digitalization
The digitization of production allows for easier physical labor for a person, efficient organization and control of labor and production processes, as well as ensuring the safety of the employees of the enterprise. For example, the “smart” system helps workers to avoid injuries and dangerous accidents by monitoring the safety of employees in accordance with the requirements of safety regulations and compliance with regulations. With the help of machine control, damaged and defective products are detected in the production conveyors.
Public administration is also widely implementing the digital system in a variety of areas. The data analysis system has long been used effectively by the executive. Examples of this are clear peace of mind with the help of online street surveillance systems or the prompt delivery of documents and letters to digital addresses through digital document management.
Digitalization and Automation: An Invisible Importance
Sometimes the concepts of digitization and automation are perceived as the same thing, not circumcised. For example, if computers are often installed in office buildings and they are connected to the Internet, they are considered digitalized. But computers and the Internet are just tools of the digital system. Digitalization, on the other hand, is a systematic approach to the use of digital resources, which is aimed at increasing labor productivity, increasing competitiveness and overall economic growth. For example, if a computer company in the city installs computers and orders start to be entered into the Excel program, not the notebooks, then this is automation. But the ubiquitous way of working with Uber, which is gaining popularity nowadays, almost completely eliminates the need for taxi companies. That is, the company has created a completely new model of the relationship between users and service providers. A special mobile app developed by the company directly connects customers with taxi or delivery services.
This means that when things that have not been done before or when traditional actions are stopped using modern information technology, this is really a digitalization.
Key areas of digitalization
The transition to digital systems is the development of new digital business models, the creation of digital goods and services, the automation of data collection, storage and processing, the implementation of digital design, the implementation of automation of production processes and automation, the automation of production processes and supply chain management, and the management of supply chains. is implemented in a number of areas, such as automation.
Digitalization in Turkmenistan
In our independent, permanent Neutral Motherland, under the wise leadership of our esteemed President, the "Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025" was adopted. The second phase of this Concept for 2020-2023 is currently underway. In this regard, the country has a wide range of tasks to implement modern information and communication technologies, to ensure their harmonious operation, to ensure information security, and to further develop the information system. At this stage of the Concept implementation, the creation of a data center for the collection, operation and protection of a multidisciplinary "One Window" system, which brings together various types of services, work is underway to keep the system up to date. This will create opportunities for our compatriots to create new types of digital services, create social benefits, enhance the development and competitiveness of the sectors of our national economy.
