A session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has held a regular session of the Cabinet of Ministers via digital means to consider priority issues of state life and some draft documents.
Addressing the session agenda, the head of state gave the floor to Cabinet Deputy Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov to report on the ongoing steps to boost cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), a UN specialized agency. In this regard, relevant proposals were submitted to the nation’s leader for consideration.
Mejlis Milli Gengesh Chairperson G. Mammedova focused her report on the activities of the country’s law-making body aimed at strengthening the legal framework for the wide-ranging reforms in Turkmenistan.
Mejlis deputies are making active efforts to increase public awareness of Turkmenistan’s foreign and home policy, and give a better understanding of the essence and substance of new laws.
Then, Cabinet Deputy Chairperson M. Mammedova informed about the state of affairs in the sector she is responsible for, cultural events due to take place in August in honor of the 30th anniversary of the home country’s independence, and cultural activities to be organized as part of various forums this year designated as ‘Turkmenistan: the Land of Peace and Trust’.
The head of state gave the Vice-Premier precise instructions on ensuring a high degree of organization of opening ceremonies for the new buildings that would become a wonderful and special gift for the public to celebrate the milestone occasion.
In his report, Cabinet Deputy Chairman E. Orazgeldiev covered the current activities in the country’s water sector. A draft Resolution on establishing and approving the Turkmen side’s membership of the Joint Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission on Water Management Issues was presented to the President of Turkmenistan for consideration.
On May 26, 2021 the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed an Agreement on the above-mentioned Joint Intergovernmental Commission to promote cooperation in the water sector between the countries.
After signing the Resolution, the head of state sent it digitally to the Vice-Premier and gave issue-associated assignments.
Cabinet Deputy Chairman Sh. Abdrakhmanov reported on the current situation in the supervised sectors, and presented draft Resolutions ‘On Türkmengaz State Concern’, ‘On Türkmennebit State Concern’, ‘On Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation’ and ‘On the Turkmenbashi Refinery Complex’ to the President of Turkmenistan for consideration.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the within-said Resolutions and transmitted them to the Vice-Premier through digital means, having given relevant commissions.
Next speaker, Cabinet Deputy Chairman M. Geldiniyazov informed about short-term training courses to be offered by the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan.
The Vice Premier said that the Academy would run the short professional development courses for members of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.
The report made by Cabinet Deputy Chairman Ch. Gylyjov was an extensive coverage of the state of affairs in the sector answerable to him, the implementation progress of commissions given earlier by the head of state, as well as a draft Resolution on export charges on paper waste and printed products.
After signing the Resolution, the head of state sent it to the Vice-Premier using digital technology and gave detailed instructions on its implementation.
Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan M. Chakyev centered his report on a draft Resolution concerning the Agency.
As informed, on the instructions from the head of state, the within-said document and Regulations on the Agency and its administrative body had been prepared in collaboration with other sectoral institutions.
Having signed the Resolution on the Transport and Communications Agency, the head of state transmitted it digitally to M. Chakyev and assigned to exercise strict control over the measures being taken in this field.
Closing the Cabinet session, which considered a number of important issues, and adopted the documents aimed at developing and promoting the sectors, the nation’s leader wished its participants good health, family wellbeing and great success in their work for the continued progress and prosperity of the independent native country.

Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also conducted a working meeting with the participation of members of the Organizing Committee for the international events to be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on August 6.
The meeting focused on preparations for the Central Asian Leaders’ Consultative Summit, the Central Asian Women’s Dialogue, the Central Asian Economic Forum, the Central Asian International Exhibition of National Products, the Central Asian International Festival of National Cuisines, and the festive concert featuring performing artists from the Central Asian countries.
Opening the meeting, the head of state recognized the significance of the upcoming events aimed to extend relations and effective partnership between the region’s countries and to enhance our country’s international prestige.
Cabinet Deputy Chairman, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov was the first to report on the ongoing efforts to ensure a high degree of organization of the Central Asian Leaders’ Consultative Summit, the Central Asian Economic Forum, and bilateral events, among others.
Mejlis Milli Gengesh Chairperson G. Mammedova centered her report on the program of the Central Asian Women’s Dialogue to be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan.
Representatives of foreign countries and the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia are expected to attend the forum.
Cabinet Deputy Chairman Ch. Gylyjov informed about the international exhibitions and the Central Asian Festival of National Cuisines due to take place in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, as well as the measures being taken to host them successfully.
In her turn, Cabinet Deputy Chairperson M. Mammedova addressed the program of the upcoming cultural events in Avaza that would contribute to wide popularization of Turkmenistan’s achievements and the Turkmen nation’s rich heritage and centuries-old national values, as well as the ongoing preparations for the concert by artists from Turkmenistan and the Central Asian countries.
Cabinet Deputy Chairman M. Geldinyyazov covered the efforts being undertaken to carry out the earlier presidential commissions regarding preparations for the events of international importance in Avaza.
Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan M. Chakyev focused his report on the practical steps aimed to properly organize events to be hosted as part of the Central Asian Leaders’ Consultative Summit in Avaza.
The report also looked at the preparations for the Central Asian International Exhibition of National Products that will take place at the International Turkmenbashi Seaport.
Summing up the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of the Central Asian Leaders’ Consultative Summit, the Central Asian Economic Forum, and the Central Asian Women’s Dialogue, as well as the related events. This stands as eloquent testimony to the fact that the Avaza National Tourist Zone has turned into a prestigious venue for international cooperation forums.
